Human Mind is an assimilative sponge. It fundamentally creates memory which are of various kinds. When we try to have a visual representation of 'Mind', Commonly, we tend to think of the image of a Human Brain with The White LED Lit background of the outline as a must.
Considering, The absorbent nature of this sponge, Let's now imagine, that we have covered it with one/ multiple anti-absorbent layers. If there is no room to create memory, there is a slim chance of remembering and the next steps of recalling & responding becomes inconceivable.
Focusing is a process where assimilation of knowledge of any kind; important or trivial is Consciously accepted and done. And is necessarily result oriented. Any work done has an expectant outcome!
Now, the relation between creating memory & focus is that of wick & oil in a lamp. Without one the other is of no use. The mind is the clay lamp (Diya), The Oil - memory, The Wick - Focus and the light is the final desired result.
The undivided attention that one gives while performing a task, for instance Studying/Reading is Focus. While it is a continuous process, Memory is concretely created, Mind holds/stores the hence absorbed knowledge.
The various obstacles are the anti-absorbent layers covering the mind.
After study & reference of various sources, I have narrowed down to a few prominent obstacles - They are - Anger, Sensual thoughts, Self-doubt, Comparison, Fear, Anxiety, Lethargy & Laziness.
Having even one hinders focus but We, the present digital & tech savvy generation have a combination of multiple aspects from the above Therefore, The Mind ceases to absorb knowledge to its fullest potential.
Though, We seem to be a busier generation, We sadly are the less productive bunch at an individual level as well. We perceive, that we lack Focus, but instead of consciously detaching from the distractions, people tend to Mask it with Procrastinating the task, which is even more dangerous.
Procrastination Vandalises the growth & development. Later, Attacking and Sabotaging ones Confidence & Vision. When the fear of the unknown haunts Subtly or Strongly; Consciously or Unconsciously - One surely finds resort in Procrastination. It is that comfy couch where the task is not "done away with" forever , but telling oneself that " it will be done somehow and sometime for sure".
Lack of focus & Procrastination are the Shackles attached to Us - The Digital Literate Prisoners!
The Practice of Conscious detachment, Meditation and importantly- A cognizant effort towards unfolding & Discarding the obstructing layers is the parol to walk towards the enlightened Self feeling Content & Coherent.
